Octopus Ventures to give keynote presentation at YCF conference

Our speaker will be Alex Macpherson, Managing Director of Octopus Ventures, who will give an early stage investor's views on how young companies should look at business models appropriate to their chosen markets.
Octopus Ventures is a division of Octopus Investments, which manages some £300 million in VCT and EIS funds as well as the £30 million Octopus Capital for Enterprise (OCfE) Fund.
Alex Macpherson was originally an investment
banker with SG Warburg. He joined Octopus following the sale of the business he founded,
Katalyst Ventures, to Octopus in 2007.
Octopus typically invests from £500k to £5 million per investment and is a leading investor into UK small business. Octopus is a generalist investor, preferring to back exceptional entrepreneurial teams rather than specific sectors. Octopus looks for businesses which can create, transform or dominate an industry. Octopus has £110 million to invest in the next three years.
