Tim has been a patent attorney for around 20 years and a partner in Marks & Clerk LLP for over 10 years. He has been based in Scotland for more than a decade after previously working in the London and Paris offices of Marks & Clerk.
Tim works with many different clients ranging from start-ups and SMEs to large multinationals and universities. He is experienced in many areas of patent practice, including building significant patent portfolios from scratch and representing clients in examination, opposition and appeal hearings before the European Patent Office. He works across a wide range of technical areas, including sensors and signal processing, medical imaging, artificial intelligence, computer games, audio and visual processing, financial software, TV and content distribution systems, energy systems, mechanical devices, and networking and telecommunication technologies. He has extensive experience in carving out protection for clients in areas that are on the borderline of patentability.
